Karen Fine Author

About the Author


Currently living in San Diego, California, Karen Fine is an avid writer and has been published in several trade magazines and newsletters.  "How I Eat Without Wheat" is her first children’s book, and the first in a series she has created to help children be inspired to live a healthy lifestyle.  Her second book, "Nature's Candy," was recently published in April 2008.  Her second book continues with an emphasis on healthy eating, this time focusing on fruit for snacks. Her third book about eating vegetables for strength and health is due out in December 2008.

 

Her oldest son was diagnosed with celiac disease in March of 2003 and since then she has conducted extensive research in order to educate those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance on how they can live a normal life.  In addition, her two young sons and four nieces and nephew keep her very involved in children’s activities and interests.  She enjoys spending time reading to her sons’ classes and volunteers regularly to help with school activities.

 

She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism.  In between earning her two degrees, she flew search and rescue helicopters as a pilot in the U.S. Navy.

Karen and her husband have also founded a non-profit organization, Gluten Free Foundation.  The mission of Gluten Free Foundation is to realize solutions for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance as well as increase public awareness of these conditions.
